Spring Soccer Season Update

STM Soccer Club Families

We hope that this email finds you and your family well during these unprecedented times. We have tried to hold off as long as possible, but we are saddened to have to inform everyone that the STM Soccer Club is official cancelling the spring soccer season for 2020. There was a period of time when we were hopeful that the pandemic situation would improve and the season could be delayed as some of the league’s were talking about playing longer into the summer, so the children could be able to play some games. Governor Wolf has extended the “Stay at Home” orders through May 8th and has introduced the reopening guidelines and the three phases for which he feels is safe for everyone involved.  Recreational Sports will only be allowed in the third phase and no time line has been provided.

STM Soccer Club is a non-profit organization that is relying on the registration fee’s from the players to cover many costs that the club is responsible for, such as field maintenance (grass still needs to be cut & maintained even if we are not playing on it) yearly insurance costs, website, utilities, and administrative costs to name few. We do not want to add more stress to those families who are experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 and would like to offer a full refund of their spring season registration costs. Families may elect to donate their registration fee to continue to support our club and the fixed costs associated with running such an organization or families may you elect to have a refund issued by completing this form; Please complete the form by May 10th. Also, Travel Soccer is a yearly fee that was paid in the fall of 2019. Since most of the season is held during the fall along with the associated cost, the club will be issuing a refund of 33% of the previously paid registration fees. For all refunds, please be patient as individual checks will need to be processed and mailed.

2020-2021 Travel Soccer Try-outs will not be held this spring due to COVID-19 and not allowing gatherings of larger groups. The board has decided to allow all players currently rostered to secure and maintain their roster spot with their current team for next season. Any empty available roster spots will be at the coach’s discretion to fill as he/she sees fit for the wellbeing of the team.

These are unprecedented times that we are living through. The safety and health of the players and families is our main priority. We know that it’s difficult and my heart breaks for each and every one of the players for the things they are missing out on. Coaches will be reaching out to their players and being creative with possible training idea’s that will be both fun and educational.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to handle your questions. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate through these times. Please stay safe and healthy.
